Stettler Auction Market was founded in 1953 by Charlie McKay and Thomas (Ace) Pratt and from 1990 to 2016 was operated by Charlie McKay’s sons-in-law Jim Abel and Greg Hayden. In October 2016, ownership of the Stettler Auction Market was transferred from one long-time Stettler family to another, with Gary and Leigh Rairdan along with their daughter Crystal Rairdan, taking the reins.

 

June 2026 marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Stettler Auction Market Ltd. Davie and Tracey Ann Mailer of Didsbury, Alberta, are proud to announce the acquisition of the market and are honoured to continue its long-standing tradition of serving livestock producers throughout Alberta. We are also pleased to welcome Ashwin and Rosyline Krishna of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as Raj Krishna of Langley, B.C who have joined our team as partners in the operation and future growth of Stettler Auction Market Ltd.

The Mailer family's roots in the livestock industry date back to 1951, when Dave Mailer Sr. began buying and marketing livestock throughout Alberta and British Columbia. His integrity, hard work, and commitment to producers established a reputation that continues to guide our business today. Davie having spent his entire life in the livestock industry, understands the importance of trust, strong relationships, and dependable service. Those values remain at the heart of everything we do.

Stettler Auction Market Ltd. is proudly family owned and operated. Dave's Sons, Clinton Braithwaite and Dawson Mailer, play integral roles in the daily operations of the market. Clinton oversees many aspects of the day-to-day operation, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Dawson serves as our Field Representative and Buyer, working closely with producers while also coordinating the pickup and delivery of sheep, lambs, and goats. Together, our family is committed to providing the highest level of service to our customers and ensuring the continued success of Stettler Auction Market for years to come.
